Program Overview

The StarFish Organization is the official social network of the TahitiPetey Foundation, where members become Digital Activists in a collaborative effort to increase awareness of important ocean, marine life and Climate Change, and plus entrepreneurial issues. It's that simple and trust us when we say, they truly need our help.

The StarFish Organization is not just another hyped up social media platform, it's an opportunity to effect real change through direct word-of-mouth communication, through sharing awareness of issues and new solutions and products we can all benefit from. Our underlying common goal is to change the way all of us view and use one-time only, convenience-based plastic products, much of which reach our oceans and kill millions of sea birds and marine life each year.

Folks, we use over 210 billion plastic beverage containers a year and that number continues to grow. We use over 7 trillion plastic shopping bags each year, although efforts are underway worldwide to reduce their usage, and it is estimated that we pump over 400 billion other plastic products into our landfills each year. Some estimate that 5% of all this waste finds itself into the ocean, and frankly, this madness must stop and like yesterday!

Think about it, plastic products are so integrated into our daily lives we do not even recognize it as a global issue, but it is. We won't bore you will all the facts here, our sites will do that is due time. Let's discuss how our membership program works. For discussion purposes we will assume you have already joined us, or a fellow member is sharing this site with you or you figured out a way to get here as a non-member. Our program is designed to empower and compensate you for taking action, spreading the word about us and the ocean issues, and helping us help social entrepreneurs who are developing the solutions and products we need to deal with the issues. Along the way we're going to have some fun and tavel too. Petey, our Founder and Chief Coconut, believes that non-profit groups like the Foundation, can best accomplish their goals if they stop asking for donations and compensate people to stay engaged long-term in their efforts.

First, everyone joins for free - like you did, right? Our free members are called our StarFish. Once you test drive the membership and its programs, we are all but certain you will want to upgrade to a paying membership to become a FoundersClub level member, which cost just $25 per month. It costs $50 per month to upgrade to our exclusive Diamond ReefShark Entrepreneur level, and each level offers unique benefits and services explained elsewhere. These fees also help us fund our programs and projects, plus much more.

Okay, now let's talk about our favorite part - the Compensation Plan. As we have said, we intend to empower and compensate our members for becoming Digital Activist, and we do so  through our exclusive SandDollar$ Membership Loyalty Program, where members earn SandDollar$, our social currency, for just being members, and if they want, can earn more based on their level of membership for watching videos on our site, taking surveys and in other ways (see SandDollar$ tab on menu).

SandDollar$ can be accrued and then redeemed for destination lodging, cruises and car rental days, once our redemption platform is active in January 2010. The goal is to create a membership value that exceeds the annual paying membership cost 3 to 1 or more in travel value for SandDollar$ redeemed each year to our paying members. When you see how our program works, you will immediately understand the value offered by being a member.

In fact, we feel our program is so good, over 80% of free members will upgrade to at least a FoundersClub membership level within six months of joining. Now, that is not to say our free StarFish members will not get a value, they certainly will. Only they earn fewer SandDollar$ values for actions taken over our paying members, who not only help support this program, but all our other programs and projects as well. Members willalso earn a number of SandDollar$ each and every month for each member they have referred to us, in an amount that varies with your membership levels (being a Diamond ReefShark Entrepreneur member is the sweet spot).
